Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) was a Finnish architect and designer, internationally recognised as one of the most important figures in modernism. His organic and functional design language revolutionised Scandinavian design, and his Savoy vase from 1936 remains a timeless icon of Nordic glass art. Aalto’s work united nature-inspired forms with industrial innovation.
