Jerk Werkmäster for Nittsjö, vase.

Decorative stoneware vase from Nittsjö Keramik, designed by Jerk Werkmäster. The vase features a cylindrical form with a narrow neck and a deep blue glaze with darker glazing to the upper section. Signed to the base.

Origin: Sweden.
Designer: Jerk Werkmäster.
Material: Stoneware.
Dimensions: H. 18 cm, D. 8 cm.
Period: 1960s.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear.

Bio:
Erik Jerk Werkmäster (1896–1978) was a Swedish artist, designer and exhibition architect. He studied at Konstfack and the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and worked across mural decoration, painting and applied arts. In collaboration with Nittsjö Keramik he designed a number of ceramic forms that combined functionalism with a distinctive artistic expression. His work is represented in several Swedish museum and public collections.
