Berndt Friberg for Gustavsberg, vase.

Slender hand-glazed stoneware vase from the Selecta series with a faceted body and a gently tapering neck. Finished in a light turquoise-blue glaze with subtle tonal variations, the vase exemplifies Berndt Friberg’s refined minimalist aesthetic. Model Selecta.

Bio:
Berndt Friberg (1899–1981) was a Swedish ceramic artist and one of the most influential figures in Scandinavian stoneware. He joined Gustavsberg in 1934 and gained international recognition for his masterfully thrown forms and sophisticated hand-glazed surfaces. His works are represented in major museum collections and are regarded among the most desirable examples of twentieth-century Swedish ceramic art.
