PH Artichoke, also known in Denmark as PH Koglen, is one of Poul Henningsen’s best-known pendant lamps and was designed in 1958 for Louis Poulsen. The lamp was originally created for the Langelinie Pavilion in Copenhagen, where Henningsen wanted to design a large sculptural pendant with comfortable, glare-free light.
This version is made in copper and has a diameter of 60 cm. The distinctive construction consists of 72 leaves arranged in 12 precisely positioned rows. The layered leaves conceal the light source and distribute the light both inwards and outwards, creating the special lighting effect for which the PH Artichoke is known.
The PH Artichoke is both a functional lamp and a strong design object. The copper finish gives the lamp a warm and decorative appearance, while the white inner side of the leaves helps create a soft and comfortable light distribution. The model is well suited above a dining table, in a hallway, living room or any interior where the lamp is intended to act as a central design feature.
