Bing & Grøndahl was founded in Copenhagen in 1853 by sculptor Frederik Vilhelm Grøndahl and the brothers Meyer Hermann Bing and Jacob Herman Bing. The company became internationally renowned for its high-quality porcelain and distinctive underglaze blue decoration, including the Butterfly pattern, one of its most enduring and recognisable tableware designs. In 1987, Bing & Grøndahl became part of Royal Copenhagen.
