Metal Buddha figures have been a central part of Buddhist art in Asia for centuries. Seated representations were created according to traditional iconographic principles, in which posture, hand gestures and ornamentation carried symbolic meaning. Silver-plated surfaces gave these sculptures a distinctive luminous and decorative appearance while highlighting the finely modelled details.
