Bio:
Robert Jacobsen (1912–1993) was one of the most internationally recognised Danish sculptors of the 20th century and also worked with painting and graphic art. He was a central figure in European post-war abstraction and spent an extended period in Paris, where he was associated with the artistic circle around Galerie Denise René. Jacobsen became particularly renowned for his iron sculptures, in which line, space and void play a central role, and these formal principles can also be found in his graphic works. He received the Thorvaldsen Medal in 1967 and held professorships at the art academies in Munich and Copenhagen.
