Stanley Johnson was a Swedish artist whose work here reflects the expressive, abstraction-oriented tendencies of Scandinavian post-war painting. The figurative underwater subject is partially dissolved into a dense network of lines, areas of colour, and energetic brushwork, while the fish remain discernible among the aquatic vegetation.
