Bio:
Henrik Buster Bruun (1929–2020) was a Danish painter, printmaker and author. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1951 to 1957 under artists including Aksel Jørgensen, Olaf Rude and Niels Lergaard. An encounter with the work of Paul Klee at an exhibition at Charlottenborg in the early 1950s, together with his interest in Persian miniatures, had a significant influence on his artistic development. Bruun became particularly known for his distinctive landscapes viewed from a high perspective, in which fields, roads and other landscape elements are compressed towards the picture plane, creating an almost map-like and abstract character. He worked extensively in graphic art, producing approximately 125 different lithographs as well as posters for the Danish State Railways (DSB). His works are represented in several Danish public institutions and collections.
