Bio:
The composition relates to the Scandinavian modernist tradition, in which recognisable objects were frequently simplified and transformed through bold outlines, geometric construction and strong colour contrasts. Still life in particular provided artists with a means of exploring the relationship between figure and pictorial plane, and in this work the jug and bottle are integrated into a dense decorative composition where line and colour are as important as the depicted objects themselves.
