Bio:
Sven-Erik Markhed (1925–1996) was a Swedish painter. He studied at Essemskolan in Malmö from 1947 to 1950 and continued his artistic education in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and Académie Colarossi. Markhed exhibited throughout Sweden and worked within a modernist painterly idiom in which landscape forms could be simplified into broad brushwork and interconnected fields of colour. His training in both Sweden and Paris placed his artistic development within the wider context of post-war European modernism.
