William Shayer (1787–1879) was a British landscape and genre painter particularly known for atmospheric depictions of English rural life. His works include landscapes populated by travellers, country people, animals and carts, as well as coastal subjects, often arranged as lively narrative scenes. Shayer's work is represented in British public collections, with Art UK recording a number of his landscapes and genre subjects in museum holdings.
