Bio:
Stig Hilding Södersten (1906–1979) was a Swedish painter and illustrator who studied at Carl Wilhelmsons painting school, the Technical School and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Following a study journey to Bali in 1929–30, he pursued both painting and illustration and later became a widely commissioned Swedish book illustrator. His paintings included landscapes and have been characterised by a lyrical Impressionist approach with a strong sensitivity to colour. Subjects inspired by travel and varied landscape environments remained part of his artistic output throughout his career.
