Bio:
Brutalism in ceramic art gained particular significance during the 1960s and 70s, when artists and ceramicists experimented with monumental forms, rough surfaces and expressive glazes. Influenced by the sculptural and architectural movements of the period, ceramics were increasingly conceived as independent works of art rather than traditional functional objects. Heavy glaze drips and organic shapes became characteristic features of this experimental approach to ceramic design.
