Bio:
Benin bronzes are a casting tradition from the historic Kingdom of Benin in present-day southern Nigeria, where the bronze casters of the Edo people have worked with the lost-wax method for centuries. The leopard was a symbol of royal power and is one of the most widespread motifs in the tradition. The tradition lives on in Benin City, where casters still produce figures in the classic forms.
